Veneers

improve your smile with veneers

A porcelain veneer is a thin layer of ceramic that covers the front portion of your tooth to improve the aesthetics of a smile. They mimic the tooth enamel in a way that makes them look natural. Veneers are often used to cover up flaws such as deep staining that can’t be removed through bleaching, gaps between teeth, cracks etc. Sometimes they can even be used to align front teeth.

If your teeth are discolored, worn, not aligned properly or have spaces,
Porcelain veneers may be the solution.

Two appointments are required to make a veneer.

At the first appointment, a small amount of tooth is removed to make room for the porcelain. Then, an impression is taken of the prepared tooth or teeth, a temporary restoration is placed and the impression is used by a lab technician to make a veneer.

At the second appointment, the temporary veneer is removed, the tooth is cleaned
and the veneer is bonded to place.

FAQs on Veneers

Q: How long do veneers last?
A: With care, veneers should provide years of service.

Q: Do veneers require special care?
A: Routine brushing and flossing is necessary.

Q: Can I eat and chew normally with veneers?
A: Heavy coffee, tea, dark colas or smoking can stain the veneers.
Habits such as fingernail biting or pencil chewing can chip or break veneers.

If you habitually clench or grind your teeth, wearing a splint or a nightguard will help protect your veneers.
